Android Live Wallpaper

Electric Sheep is now available in the Android Market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.spotworks.electricsheep).  It runs as an app and a live wallpaper.  Please comment and discuss here.

New Sheep Packs

Download, unzip, and copy to your content/mpeg folder (on XP look in C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ElectricSheep, or on Win7 C:\ProgramData\ElectricSheep, and on Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Electric Sheep, and on Linux in ~/.electricsheep).

Linux Client Instructions

If you have Ubuntu 10.04 or Debian Sid, then you can just use the package manager or type "sudo apt-get install electricsheep", although that will get you an old version, it should work fine.

Otherwise, the preferred way to install it is from source.

Mac Client Release Notes

Download, open the DMG, then double click to install (requires OSX 10.4 or better).  It should select itself as your current screensaver, and also put an icon for the application on the desktop.  If not, open the System Preferences / Desktop & Screensaver and choose "Electric Sheep" from the list on the left (not "ElectricSheep" without a space, because that's the old version).

Windows Client Release Notes

Get it here: http://electricsheep.googlecode.com/files/electricsheep-2.7b34.exe

Download and double click to install. You can run it either by waiting for your screensaver to come on, or double clicking on the desktop icon, then clicking the "Run" button.

Saw ES on DMT documentary

Hello all, first time here.

I was watching a documentary on DMT on Netflix and it had incredibly stunning graphics. I looked on the credits, and well, that led me here.

As a long, long time Milkdrop user, I was saddened that ES doesn't work in realtime, however I am very curious about what was used in that documentary.

I'm curious if Scott Draves worked with them and what exactly was used. Was it the Blu-Ray DVD? Or the large hard drive full of videos.

What is: "Survivors: median cut=1337"

What does that mean ?

When I go to download status and error log (press F2) it says Survivors: median cut=1337

in the 2nd line (below local flock) [now 1337 changed to 1544]

Also I'm still awaiting an answer on this: http://electricsheep.org/node/4240 "electris sheep doesn't render"

[Linux] Black & White or All Grays

Hi all,

Config : Ubuntu 11.10 / WM : lxde

I am looking for a way to configure ElectricSheeps with no colors, black, white and grays only. In the parameters, there are some choices called "StaticGray" and "GrayScale" so I tried to check these but nothing changed : ElectricSheep keep beeing coloured.

Do I have to download special packs or is there any hidden parameter I have to check ?

Cordially yours,

K

What happens when you reach maximum disk space?

I've just completed a setup in my home where I have several HTPCs and a few regular old Mac computers all running Electric Sheep, and all of them are set to save sheep to a spot on my networked Drobo FS. The result is that they are all dumping sheep into the same folder and it's filling up fast. I've set the maximum disk space in settings on all the computers to the same amount.

So what happens when I reach that amount? Does the screensaver completely stop downloading sheep and just constantly replay older ones, or does it delete some on its own and then begin downloading again?

Could be made so much better

I love watching these beautiful fractals and the idea of letting "natural" selection evolve these sheep for our enjoyment is an idea I envy! :)  But the programs is not user friendly and has tons of little annoying bugs. I am just going to spill my thoughts here and you can pick them apart.

*You never know where a sheep start or end so voting for a particular sheep is hard. By the time you have decide to kill it or save it another sheep is playing.

*Killed sheep keep playing and don't seem to be deleted off the computer.
