Ubuntu 10.04 Voting and other things.

Hi I just downloaded this from the Ubuntu 10.04 software centre. I got it working so it shows as a screensaver like all the cool effects and also downloaded a few extra sheep to get started but they don't flow continuously all the time and it just goes black and plays the next one. However the more recent ones seem to run smoothly in continuous motion, I think those were automatically downloaded over the internet im not sure how it works fully yet. Also I can't seem to vote, I tried pressing f1, f2, f3, f4 e.t.c. also the arrow keys but nothing happens then If I move my mouse it obviously just returns to the desktop. So im stuck with crappy looking ones because I can't vote like the heart shaped one where people will think im weird for having it as my screensaver. Ok so basically I want someone to describe everything like the process of the software so I can understand how it works and im pretty good on computers so don't be afraid of using technical words lol. I'm not sure if it is me doing something wrong or just the software is not kept updated and does not work correctly on recent operating systems such as Ubuntu 10.04. Also does it update automatically if it is updated for recent operating systems or do I manually have to remember to uninstall it and re-install it and keep the sheep that I like from the hidden .electricsheep folder in my home folder. This is turning into a huge essay and not a simple question so I will end it lol, appreciate it if someone replies because it's a great idea and project and would be even better if it worked correctly.

None of the keyboard commands

None of the keyboard commands (voting nor status overlays) work on Linux because the screensaver framework does not deliver events to our code.

If you want to remove sheep you don't like I recommend either playing the AVI files directly and noting the ones you don't like, or looking at the current flock (click on the sheep images on right and then click "flock"). Once you have identified a sheep you don't want, delete the AVI file and create a new zero-size file with the same but the name ending in XXX. That will prevent the client from downloading that sheep in the future.

.:.

So it will never work for linux in the future? Or will there be a work around in future releases? Also is it possible to get sheep that I like and then somehow link them in a continuous motion like get a render to fill in the gaps or is that not possible? Thanks for the response by the way appreciate it.

in addition to supporting the

in addition to supporting the commands, we would have to replace gnome-screensaver. it's not easy but it is possible. as much as a fan of linux i am, i have to pick my battles and this one isn't on the top of my list. of course if the community were to come up with a good fix, i would be happy to ship it.
