Win 7 64 - instacrash + info

Hi there. I used to use this awesome little app on a previous rig, and finally got around to installing it on this one. Unfortunately, it instantly crashes, even the little preview in the screensaver selection window. I've gotten it to work in DirectDraw mode, though. However, I figured I'd pass on some info - perhaps it will help with any debugging.

GPU = ATI 5870 (just updated the drivers the other day)
OS = Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
CPU = Intel Q6600
mobo = Asus Maximus Formula

I would have thought my rig would run this fine (heck, even Crysis runs smooth as silk!)

Let me know if you need any more info, or have any suggestions. Thank-you, and cheers.

ALSO: Don't know why the post formatting is messed up in this forum. o_O Luckily I previewed & added about 40 *br* tags.

thanks for the report. what happens if you set the display mode on "normal" (under advanced settings) and turn Direct Draw off?

Seems to work with those

Seems to work with those settings. (Normal; Direct Draw off)

Looks much better, too. :]

Both piecewise options cause an instant crash. Strange. I hope you guys can figure out what's up.

Thanks for the reply.

thanks, that's a good sign.

thanks, that's a good sign. if you install the DX9 end-user runtime it should fix bicubic and linear modes too.

OK. I installed the DX9

OK.

I installed the DX9 dealio like you suggested. Got it from here:

It works fine now under the other modes. Thanks for your help. Hopefully others find this little thread useful, too.

(PS: I hate having to copy/paste < br > after every line in order to post here, tho! lol )
