Electric Sheep ported to Snow Leopard Mac OS?

My pc is pooping out - parts failing faster than I can keep up.  Sooo, I finally succumbed and bought a Macbook Pro.  Will electric sheep run on the Mac with Snow Leopard?  I don't want to lose my sheep, but my husband is claiming electric sheep just aren't able to run on the Mac (he says no matter what OS is being used).  I can't find a download for Snow Leopard.  Who is right?  PLEASE tell me I can still run my sheep!!  Thank you!

the regular mac download

the regular mac download works fine on snow leopard.

excellent! TY! downloads?

It works!  woohoo!  TY!!!

Now how do I set it up to get new sheep or can I move the ones I have on my pc over to my Mac somehow?  My pc kept getting error messages about downloading new sheep, but I had primed the pump originally by downloading lots of folders of sheep from an archive at the electric sheep site.

I guess that's two questions:

1. how do I set it up (the Mac) to download new sheep, and

2. is there some way to move the old sheep from the pc to the Mac? (I had some really neat ones!)

Thanks again!

p.s. Question #3:

The Preferences on the Mac for ESheep tells me the download files should be in :

~/Library/Application Support/Electric Sheep/content

So far there is no folder called "Electric Sheep" in the Application Support folder.  Am I right in assuming it will be created when downloads commence?

Thx again!

How to move

To move the sheep, you'll need to probably get a big USB stick (big enough to hold them all) and copy the files to the content folder. If it's too big, you can put them in a compressed folder, which makes it smaller for the USb stick (but just the same quality), and then carry it over. I don't know why you don't see the folder... I don't use Macs nearly as much as windows, so maybe it's a hidden folder, if you know what those are. In response to your first question: get it online. Then it will start downloading automatically.

there are a lot of ways to

there are a lot of ways to transfer the files besides USB sticks.  you can also burn them to DVD, or share a disk over a local network.

compression will not work on the sheep.

Why not?

Yeah, I just thought USB sticks are probably one of the easiest ways...

But why wouldn't compression work on the sheep?

Compression won't work

Compression won't work because they are already compressed (that's what the video codec is for).  You might see an extremely tiny gain (certainly less than 0.5%) since the headers themselves can compress a bit, obviously that's not worth it.

:-O

I have been enlightened.... *play choir music*

online?

TY for your answers!  My Mac is online at present.  How do I tell ESheep to get online?

Thx again!

=============================

er, ignore the above!  I was out walking dogs for maybe half an hour.  When I got back I checked and voila, the folders and files are there and it has downloaded a fair number of sheep already!  Now I may have to figure out how to keep it from filling my disk with sheep!  O.O  Is there a throttle?

thx again!

it's all automatic.  the

it's all automatic.  the number of megabytes of disk space used is in the settings, the default is 2 gigabytes (2000 megabytes).

not enough space to run?

Husband downloaded and did all same as me, also on a Mac , when program tries to start downloading sheep it says across the top "Low disk space, downloading disabled."  He has more than 2 GB free.  Any ideas?

With your help MY sheep are working great!  TY all!
