Hi, I'm using Internet Explorer and when I click on an image the default player that opens is Windows Media Player. How do I change this to be VLC? Thanks.
When you installed VLC, if should have given you the option, if you chose "custom" - and by default, done so otherwise - to automatically change the default .avi opening program to VLC. I did, however, encounter the same problem... Hmm.
What you need to do is open up your "File Associations" thingy. Where it is exactly depends on your OS/version of IE, but this should work:
*Go into IE
*Click Tools/Options/Whatever sounds like it servers a similar function
*Click Programs
*Click Internet Programs
And you should get a dialog, scroll to ".avi", and make sure VLC Media Player is checked.
If for some reason this series of actions is causing you despair, go into your content/m-pegs folder and right click any .avi file (in fact, any .avi file anywhere works...), select "Open with...", and do *NOT* click on VLC if it pops up on the right. Instead, click "select program from list". Then select VLC, make sure the checkbox "Always use this program... etc." is checked, and click Apply/OK.
You can't just click "VLC Media Player" in the right-click menu, otherwise it will not be set as the default.
