Lotsa questions....

Okay. Firstly let me say this: Electric Sheep are freakin AWESOME! Secondly, thank you spot for all the work you do. Thirdly, some of the questions I'm about to ask have already been address in other topics on this forum, but I need to ask again because the explanations didn't sink in well when I read through them... so sorry if some of these questions have been answered a million times.

1) what is the play_counts file and what happens when (and if) I delete it?

2) could some give me a detailed explanation (or lead me to one) of the .cfg file and what ALL its parameters do/mean?

2a) why does seamlessplayback appear twice in the .cfg? (one time both words are lowercase, the other time both are upper)

3) how do I make my sheepsaver play more loops instead of constantly transitioning?

3a) because I am pretty sure of the answer to 3, what exactly does enabling "seamless playback" and changing the value of "playback evenly" do (and what would a playback value of 25, 50, and 75 do respectively)?

4) what are the best settings for my sheepsaver? (i have it set to 30decoding fps, 2loops, 60display fps, cubic display)

5) sorry for all the questions...

Thanks,

~Xyegore

i also have a question...

i have been looking but no luck. Maybe someone here can help me understand this.

First off, i run Windows. i am using Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

My question is this: in the mpeg folder where the sheep are stored, for a number of them it shows me a lot of "Video Clip" files which are the sheep. it also shows me "XXX File" which is labeled just as a sheep, except at the end it says "=12345.xxx" . What are these files and what are they for? They all have a size of "0 KB" and when deleted it comes back. At first i thought maybe sheep that are downloading that haven't completed yet. Now i am not too sure. My sheep file has almost doubled now. is it a flaw with Vista? is it because i am using 64 bit? Or is this perfectly normal and the sheep just need some sort of decoding like a .dll or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

that's a sheep that's been

that's a sheep that's been deleted, it's normal.

you are welcome, glad you

you are welcome, glad you like it.

re 2a, thanks for finding a bug!

so that IS a bug? i guess

so that IS a bug? i guess that means i should put the other one to true also huh?

btw... just in case this is a platform related one I am using the Windows version

1. I think it has something

1. I think it has something to do with PlayEvenly.  Nothing bad happens if you delete it.

2. I'll let someone else do that.

2a. Glitch?

3. Delete some transitions, and change PlayEvenly to 0.

3a. Seamlses playback is supposed to keep it from going to sheep without transitions, but it doesn't work for me.  I'm not sure about PlayEvenly; I asked about it a while ago and didn't get a good answer.

4. Whatever you want.

5. ........ok.

Thank you very much! That is

Thank you very much! That is a start to me fully understanding this program!

Thats funny, I dont have

Thats funny, I dont have seamlessplayback at all. hmmm...

wow... that is kinda weird.

wow... that is kinda weird. Mine look like:

Table: {6}
{
["player_fps"]=30,
["hudFontSize"]=24,
["PlayEvenly"]=100,
["BufferLength"]=25,
["silent_mode"]=true,
["hudFontName"]="Arial",
["screen"]=0,
["seamlessplayback"]=true,
["blankmonitors"]=true,
["directdraw"]=false,
["height"]=592,
["display_fps"]=60,
["LoopIterations"]=2,
["SeamlessPlayback"]=false,
["DisplayMode"]=2,
["width"]=800,

notice that I have two different instances of seamlessplayback and one of them isn't set... so my theory is that the one that says "true" as it's parameter was added by the configuration window and since it doesn't seem to be having any effect I would assume that the other one with two capital letters is the "REAL" one that ACTUALLY changes the setting of the program??

i thought we were talking

i thought we were talking about prefernces.xml, what config file are you all referring too?

i am referring to the .cfg

i am referring to the .cfg file (mine called WIN_2.7b18.cfg)

oh, your using the windows

oh, your using the windows version
